Breast Evaluation Center

Together, North Ottawa Community Health System, Envision Radiology and the Grand Haven Women’s Club are making early breast cancer detection available to uninsured women and men in northwest ottawa county.

What is MammAide?

MammAide is a program that provides mammograms for women and men who do not have health insurance and would not otherwise be able to benefit from this valuable procedure. Mammography is an excellent diagnostic tool for early detection of breast cancer. However, without medical insurance, individuals often find mammography is not an option they can afford. In 2006, the Grand Haven Women’s Club formed a collaborative partnership with North Ottawa Community Health System (NOCHS) and the physicians of Envision Radiology to meet this need in our community. MammAide is made possible by the Women’s Club with administrative and financial support from NOCHS and Envision Radiology.

Who is eligible for MammAide?

Uninsured women and men, aged 40 or older, who do not meet Medicare or Medicaid guidelines and live in Grand Haven, Grand Haven Township, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg are eligible. Special consideration is also made for those who meet the same criteria, but are UNDER the age of 40, if they have a personal or family history of breast cancer.

How do I start the process?

Applications for the MammAide program are available at the Breast Evaluation Center located in the Medical Imaging Department at NOCHS. Questions? Call the Breast Evaluation Center directly at (616) 847-5430.
