LITHOTRIPSY

Kidney stones are painful and very common – about a million people are treated for them every year.

Many are being treated with a new, non-invasive procedure called Lithotripsy – now available at NOCHS -- which is less painful, safer and had a quicker recovery time than open surgery.

How does it work? High energy shock waves are produced by a device that sends them through the body without harming any living tissue. But when they hit their target, the stones are shattered into small particles that can be passed through urine. Contact your Urologist to discuss the Lithotripsy procedure.
